چکیده

The aim of this study is to evaluate the potential antimicrobial activity four commercial essential oils: Thymus vulgaris and Origanum vulgare (two for external use two internal one). tested oils was determined by using serial two-fold dilutions method. following bacterial yeast strains were purchased used in study: E. coli, S. aureus, C. albicans. minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) Thyme oil (external use) against albicans 2 µg/ml 4 µg/ml, respectively. observed minimum bactericidal (MBC) aureus 8 µg/ml. demonstrated higher than topical form. evaluated MBC E.coli, albicans, it even lower 1 While determining Oregano (external) reported as : 16 E.coli 32 Also, form – other pathogens. results MIC determination showed that demonstrate high sensitivity can be therapeutic practice, some them probably combination with agents.

Antimicrobial Activity of Truncated and Polyvalent Peptides Derived from the FKCRRQWQWRMKKGLA Sequence against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923.

Peptides derived from LfcinB were designed and synthesized, and their antibacterial activity was tested against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Specifically, a peptide library was constructed by systemically removing the flanking residues (N or C-terminal) of Lfcin 17-31 (17FKCRRWQWRMKKLGA31), maintaining in all peptides the 20RRWQWR25 sequence that corresponds...

Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of Some New 2-hydrazone-thiazoline-4- Ones

A new series of 2-hydrazone-thiazoline-4-ones 3a-d and 2-hydrazone-5arylidene-thiazoline-4-ones 4a-h, 5a-f and 6a-b were synthesized starting from various thiosemicarbazones by the Hantzsch condensation with chloroacetic acid. The newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activity against 4 strains of bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 29213), Bacillus subtilis (ATCC ...

Antibacterial Activity of Synthetic Peptides Derived from Lactoferricin against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212

Peptides derived from human and bovine lactoferricin were designed, synthesized, purified, and characterized using RP-HPLC and MALDI-TOF-MS. Specific changes in the sequences were designed as (i) the incorporation of unnatural amino acids in the sequence, the (ii) reduction or (iii) elongation of the peptide chain length, and (iv) synthesis of molecules with different number of branches contain...
